Toi Alexzandria - DIA’s Collection

As someone who has history with the Detroit Institute of Arts, Toi Alexzandria has loads of appreciation for the history of this landmark that is graced with the works of classic American artists who have all done their part in creating a cultural landscape for modern artists to thrive upon. On the DIA’s official website, they describe the specs regarding their collection as so:

Toi Alexzandria

“The DIA's collection is among the top six in the United States, comprising a multicultural and multinational survey of human creativity from prehistory through the 21st century. The foundation was laid by William Valentiner, a scholar and art historian from Berlin, who was director from 1924 to 1945 . His extensive contacts in Europe, along with support from generous patrons, enabled him to acquire many important works that established the framework of today's collections. Among the notable acquisitions during his tenure are Mexican artist Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry fresco cycle, which Rivera considered his most successful work, and Vincent van Gogh's Self Portrait, the first Van Gogh painting to enter a U.S. museum collection.”

Now having a successful career as a model, makeup artist and business owner, Alexzandria still credits many of her achievements to the inspiration she received while wandering the halls of the Detroit Institute of Arts. It is a landmark that means so much not only to the artists of Detroit, but those all around the nation and world.

Toi Alexzandria - Running a Business

There are many keys to running a business that go beyond the skills you usually learn about in lecture halls and classrooms. Toi Alexzandria knows this just like any other businessowner does, as she is the successful owner of a makeup and hair salon in Southfield, MI. Below are some challenges you can expect to take on while opening a new business.

Gaining Clientele

The first quarter of a brand new business can be extremely tough. It is essentially the “make it or break it” period where the business needs to make enough money to at least float the payments for rent, materials and staff. That is why your initial marketing and sales efforts need to be especially aggressive so that you gain clientele quickly and get the funds you need to continue growing your business.

Plans for Growth

You need to have a plan for your business that involves comprehensive procedures on what to do when you achieve the kind of growth you are looking for. In other words, plan for success, and be ready to expand when that day comes. At first, having demand exceed your supply is a good sign; but after a while people may get impatient with your business and move on to your competitors. In order to save all that business, you need to be one step ahead of their demand and make sure you have the resources to be of service to them.

Toi Alexzandria - Jamaica

There are so many things about Jamaica that Toi Alexzandria loved during her time there. She was working as an international model at the time, and was there on a business trip that was also very pleasing for her in many ways. Jamaica is an island of the Caribbean that is characterized by its own style of music, food and island lifestyle.

Music

Jamaica is often most characterized by reggae music and culture, as it is the home of the legendary Bob Marley as well as a number of other famous artists who have brought this genre of music to the global arena. Reggae involves soothing guitar licks, the pulse of a steel drum and soulful singing that is bound to bring good vibes to any gathering.

Food

The food of Jamaica is also something to be explored, as the culinary scene is purely its own and is most often characterized by the jerk flavor. Jerk is a tangy, sweet flavor created by a combination of island spices, fruits and more that is often glazed over barbecued meats such as chicken and more. In most areas of the island, the scent of jerk lingers and will keep your mouth watering and your taste buds begging for more.

Lifestyle

Irie vibes are what Jamaicans are all about. Their take on island culture is like no other, as they live in high spirits and are gracious to guests that make it to their island.

Toi Alexzandria - The Perfect Match

Looking for love can be a very complicated task. With all of the online dating apps available at our fingertips, one would think that the age of information technology would help us find that perfect match in a quicker and more convenient fashion. But that is not always the case, nor is it even often the case. People are very complex beings; and there are things about us that could not even become apparent to our partners for days, months or even years.

So what is the perfect match, then? Is it a person whose day to day interests line up with yours; or is there a bigger formula at hand? Sometimes, simply a running dialogue filled with smiles and laughter can drive a happy relationship that lasts a long time. And for others, sometimes it’s the darker dialogue that forms the strongest bonds. And for some people, it can be hardly any conversation at all; but rather a collection of shared activities that they enjoy together, possibly including quiet time.

But because we are so complex, there is no way to really tell who r what type of person will make that perfect match. And that is why getting out there and going on some dates is absolutely necessary. This world is big and full of people, so the opportunities for love are truly endless. But you won’t learn that from sitting around and swiping left; you must get out there and try.
